Chaihoutes stone House into Olive farm in Zia Overview

First Impressions

You know what hits you first when you arrive at Chaihoutes stone House into Olive farm in Zia? It’s not just another Greek getaway — this three-star gem sits right in the heart of an actual working olive grove, and I mean that literally. The traditional stone architecture feels like it’s been here forever, weathered in all the right ways, with olive trees stretching out in every direction. There’s something almost magical about pulling up the gravel drive (free parking, by the way) and realizing you’re about to sleep surrounded by centuries-old trees.

Location & Setting

Honestly, the location alone explains why recent guests rated it a perfect 10.0 for positioning. You’re in Agios Dimitrios, which puts you close enough to Zia village to explore those famous sunset spots everyone talks about, but far enough away that you actually get peace and quiet. The olive farm setting isn’t just for show either — you’ll wake up to the sound of wind through the trees instead of traffic, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to disconnect. Couples especially seem to get this place, and I can see why — there’s something inherently romantic about being tucked away in your own little corner of a Greek hillside.

The Accommodation

The stone house itself has that authentic Greek island feel without feeling rustic or uncomfortable. You get the charm of traditional architecture — thick stone walls that keep things cool during the day, wooden beams, that sort of thing — but with modern touches where they actually matter. The rooms are thoughtfully laid out, and honestly, you spend so much time on the terrace or wandering the olive groves that the indoor space feels more like a comfortable retreat than your main hangout spot. What I really appreciated was how quiet everything stays, even with the windows open.

The Olive Farm Experience

This isn’t just a hotel that happens to be near some olive trees — you’re literally staying within a functioning olive farm, and that changes the whole experience. Depending on when you visit, you might catch the harvest season or just enjoy wandering the established groves. There’s something oddly meditative about walking between the trees in the early morning or late afternoon, and the owners clearly take pride in maintaining this working landscape. It’s educational too, if you’re curious about how olive oil actually gets made, but never in a forced or touristy way.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.2 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve been here — Chaihoutes stone House delivers on the promise of an authentic Greek experience without any of the usual compromises. You get genuine tranquility, a unique setting that most hotels can’t replicate, and hosts who understand that sometimes the best hospitality means simply letting guests enjoy the natural beauty around them. The combination of traditional stone architecture, working olive groves, and that perfect balance of accessibility and seclusion creates something special. Plus, knowing you can park for free and not worry about navigating narrow village streets? That’s just practical peace of mind that makes the whole experience better.

To book a hotel in Bodrum during gulet festivals, visitors plan ahead to balance harbor sunsets with bazaar nights.

The location is perfect! Set in the old abandoned village of Chaihoutes it is a great example of how to bring the old back to life. Extremely relaxing, the garden is abundant with fruit. The restaurant in the village is perfect, a modern take on traditional cuisine, fresh and authentic. The highlight of our time on Kos. The hosts were helpful and communicated throughout our stay.

Posizione fantastica, Arredi carini, giardino ottimo.

  • Silke from Germany (8/10)
