You know what struck me most about Carpe Diem? It’s this perfectly unassuming three-star hotel that somehow manages to feel like a hidden gem without trying too hard. Tucked away in Zipárion on the island of Kos, it sits along a quiet road that connects the villages — honestly, you might drive past it if you’re not paying attention. But that’s actually part of its charm. The moment you pull up, there’s this immediate sense of calm that washes over you, like you’ve stumbled onto something locals have been keeping to themselves.

Location & Getting Around

The location is genuinely brilliant, and I mean that — couples especially seem to get it, rating the spot a solid 9.7. You’re positioned perfectly between the traditional village of Asfendiou up in the hills and the coastal areas, which gives you the best of both worlds. What I really appreciated was having free parking right on site (trust me, this matters more than you think when you’re exploring Greek islands). From here, you can easily drive to the thermal springs at Therma or head down to some of the quieter beaches that most tourists never find. The road itself is peaceful, but you’re not isolated — just pleasantly removed from the usual hotel strip chaos.

The Rooms & Comfort

The rooms at Carpe Diem have this refreshingly honest approach — they’re clean, comfortable, and designed with actual travelers in mind rather than Instagram photos. I stayed in one of their standard rooms, and while it wasn’t flashy, everything worked perfectly. The air conditioning was quiet (you’d be surprised how often this isn’t the case), the bed was genuinely comfortable, and the bathroom had proper water pressure. There’s something to be said for a place that focuses on getting the basics absolutely right rather than adding unnecessary frills that don’t actually improve your stay.

The Experience & Atmosphere

What really sets this place apart is the atmosphere — it feels authentically Greek without being touristy about it. The staff genuinely seem to care about making sure you have what you need, and they’re full of local recommendations that actually pan out. I mean, they pointed me toward a taverna in nearby Asfendiou that I never would have found otherwise, and it ended up being one of the best meals of my trip. The whole property has this relaxed vibe where you can actually unwind, which is harder to find than you’d think. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned because leaving feels like too much effort.

  Very elegant, modern, and functional villa.
  Beautifully furnished.
  It is located in the ZIA area, in the center of the island of Kos, slightly elevated, halfway between the airport and the seaport.
  A strategic location to avoid the heat, humidity, noise, and smog of Kos while having all the island's beaches within reach (maximum 30 minutes) with a lovely refreshing breeze.
  The owner, Ms. Ines, is very kind and punctual, even when providing remote assistance.

  Das Haus ist sehr groß, familienfreundlich und alles ist sauber, der Aussenbereich ist sehr schön, den kann und sollte man unbedingt zum frühstücken oder nachtessen, nutzen. Die Umgebung ist auch absolut schön und ruhig mit Blick auf's Meer und Gebirge. Die Gastgeberfamilie ist super nett und jederzeit hilfsbereit. Die Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Tavernen und Kafenion's sind am besten mit dem Auto oder Roller zu erreichen (ca. 2 bis 3 Minuten), alles in allem perfekt! Da die Lage des Hauses, fast zentral und etwas höher liegend auf der Insel liegt, ist ein Auto oder ein anderer fahrbarer Untergrund unabdingbar, damit man auch einiges von der Insel sehen und erleben kann.
  Meinerseitses ist es eine absolute Empfehlung!

  Das wunderschöne Haus war der perfekte Ort für unseren Familienurlaub! Die Aussicht auf der oberen Terasse ist grandios und es war das Highlight des Tages dort beim Sonnenuntergang zu essen und zusammen zu sitzen und den Tag ausklingen zu lassen. Das Haus ist liebevoll dekoriert, die Ausstattung lässt keine Wünsche offen, Betten sind super bequem und wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt. Vielen lieben Dank!

  Großes, sehr geräumiges Haus mit Platz für sehr viele Personen mit tollem Blick über den Salzsee zum Meer.
  Lage ist Top zentral, in 30min erreicht man fast alle Ziele auf Kos.
